Saban Films has nabbed the U.S. rights to Michael Keaton’s Knox Goes Away thriller, which also stars Al Pacino, James Marsden and Marcia Gay Harden. Saban is eyeing a 2024 first quarter theatrical release. Keaton directs and stars in the neo-noir thriller as John Knox, a contract killer with a rapid onset of of dementia who is offered the chance to redeem himself by saving the life of the adult son played by Marsden with whom he had been estranged. Saban Films has picked up the North American rights to Scandinavian thriller Good Boy from Blue Finch Films.  Written and directed by Viljar Boe (Til Freddy), the film stars Gard Lokke (Troll), Katrine Lovise Opstad Fredriksen in her feature film debut and Amalie Willoch Njaastad (Cabin Crazy). Saban is targeting a third-quarter theatrical release. Saban Films Acquires US, UK Rights To DARKNESS OF MAN Starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Kristanna Loken

Saban Films announced today that they have acquired the US, UK, Australian/New Zealand, African, Spanish, and Scandinavian territory rights to action-spy thriller Darkness of Man starring Jean-Claude Van Damme (Universal Soldier, Kickboxer, Double Impact) with Kristanna Loken (Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines), Peter Jae (Blackhat), Spencer Breslin (The Kid), Emerson Min (“Black-ish”), and Rapper Sticky Fingaz. Directed by James Cullen Bressack (Hot Seat, Fortress), the action-spy thriller is written by Alethea Cho and Bressack and is based on an original story by Bressack & Van Damme.  The worldwide sales were represented by JD Beaufils and Julie Paquit of VMI Worldwide and negotiated by Steve Break for Saban Films. Saban Films has secured global distribution rights to the crime thriller “Clean Up Crew” in all territories but Spain and Italy. “The Survivalist” helmer Jon Keeyes directs Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Oscar winner Melissa Leo and Oscar nominee Antonio Banderas in the tale of a crime scene clean-up crew that finds a briefcase full of cash on a routine job. Saban Films Expands Deal With U.K.-Based Altitude as It Ramps Up Slate Offerings at AFM

Saban Films and Altitude have expanded their global distribution deal beyond the U.K. and Ireland. The alliance, which was originally set up in 2020, sees Saban and Altitude Film Sales partner on a slate of 10 to 12 films annually, which Altitude will bring to market beginning at this month’s American Film Market.    The initial lineup includes the Jason Momoa Western “The Last Manhunt,” “Battle for Saipan,” directed by Brandon Slagle and the action-comedy heist “High Heat,” directed by Zacj Golden and starring Olga Kurylenko and Don Johnson.  Read the Article

SABAN FILMS ACQUIRES WORLDWIDE RIGHTS TO YALE ENTERTAINMENT’S THE LAST GIRL

Saban Films announced today that they have secured the worldwide rights (except for Italy) to Yale Entertainment’s The Last Girl. Directed by Jon Keeyes (The Survivalist) and written by Charles Burnley, The Last Girl recently wrapped production in Ireland and stars Alice Eve (“Belgravia,” Star Trek Into Darkness), Shelley Hennig (Unfriended, “Teen Wolf”) and Academy Award®-nominee Antonio Banderas (Pain and Glory). Saban is planning an early 2023 release. The Last Girl follows a private investigator (Eve) who’s forced into a dangerous alliance with a killer (Hennig) in order to uncover a quiet town’s grisly criminal underbelly and clear the name of her mentor (Banderas), who is implicated in the crimes.
