Saban Films Acquires John Malkovich Dark Comedy ‘Chariot’ (Exclusive)

Saban Films has nabbed North American and select international rights to writer and director Adam Sigal’s reincarnation dark comedy, Chariot. The genre pic, starring Thomas Mann, Rosa Salazar, John Malkovich and Scout Taylor-Compton, portrays a corporation and a doctor (Malkovich) that oversees the process of reincarnation, and a young man, played by Mann, who becomes a glitch in the system when he encounters a woman (Salazar) he loved in a previous life. Saban Films President Bill Bromiley Talks Company’s Global Ambitions As It Signs Distribution Deals In Switzerland & Benelux

Saban Films is continuing to expand its international footprint, having recently inked a deal with distribution partners in Switzerland and Benelux. The L.A.-based company has signed with WW Entertainment in Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg) and Ascot Elite in Switzerland, which it will add to deals it already has in place in the UK and Ireland (Altitude), Germany and Austria (Splendid), France (ACE Entertainment), Spain (Key2Media), Scandinavia (Mis.Label) and Australia and New Zealand (Defiant Screen Entertainment). Nicolas Cage western movie could be out before the end of 2022

Nicolas Cage’s upcoming western-action movie The Old Way has found a distributor and may be out before the end of the year. According to Deadline, Saban Films has acquired the film and intends on releasing it theatrically and on VOD during the fourth quarter of 2022, although we can’t get more specific than that. Nicolas Cage Western ‘The Old Way’ Lands U.S. Deal At Saban Films

Saban Films has acquired North American and other overseas territory rights to The Old Way, the Western from director Brett Donowho that stars Nicolas Cage. The distributor is targeting a theatrical and VOD release for the pic sometime during the fourth quarter of 2022. The deal marks the the second recent pickup of a Cage-toplined pic for Saban Films, which also snagged rights to the frontier epic Butcher’s Crossing written and directed by Gabe Polsky and starring Cage as an 1870s buffalo hunter. Saban Films Buys Supernatural Horror Movie ‘Shepherd’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Saban Films has acquired North American rights to “Shepherd,” a supernatural thriller by writer-director Russell Owen. Following its world premiere at BFI London Film Festival, “Shepherd” was released in theaters in the United Kingdom last month and has generated $19 million to date.
