LOS ANGELES – October 15, 2016 – Saban Films has acquired North American distribution rights to Academy Award® Nominee Roland Joffé’s The Forgiven, starring Academy Award® Winner Forest Whitaker (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Arrival, Lee Daniels' The Butler, The Last King of Scotland) and Eric Bana (Lone Survivor, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Munich, Black Hawk Down, Chopper). Co-written by Joffé and Michael Ashton and based on Ashton’s play “The Archbishop and The Antichrist,” the drama follows Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s (Whitaker) work as President of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in post-apartheid South Africa, and his struggle with a brutal murderer Piet Blomfeld (Bana) over concession and redemption.
